Work

Landscapes

They are part of the first period of Ricolopez’s professional career, a time of intense work, drawing, painting and experimentation and a time that he dedicates to Nature.

Urban Landscapes

The solitude of the small villages of rocky mountains with their whitewashed houses in the Valencian interior, with chipped worn walls, painted with a range of vibrant colors and hues.

Fishermen

Boats stranded in the sand, children on the beach, whitewashed houses, fishing nets and hardened sea workers with few figures in a luminous nature.

Field chores

The field workers environment lacks a specific geographical location, because wheat, oats, rice and esparto are common to many places. Ricolopez creates his paintings composed of the essential attributes: the land, the trees, the countryside, the mountains, the clouds, the farms, and especially the work of wheat recollection.

Maternities

Maternal love, the love of mother and son. A theme of great affection and tenderness with figures of soft and kind representation, avoiding misery and helplessness.

Children

Children are the essence of naivety and also the essence of happiness with their laughter and games.

Still-life

Representations of baskets containing strings of garlic, elongated baskets that host wild thistles with dried flowers, snails with rosemary branches, esparteñas, straw from Spain‘s sandals, that hang from whitewashed walls of country houses.

Woman

It is a tribute of the painter to women for having achieved some of their equality with men in their rights, represented in the allegorical paintings that contain a deep message.

Drawings

They are a small example of the drawings of preparation, sketches from which the idea of the painting starts between a certain simplicity and a certain complex conception and execution, trying consciously to specify Ricolopez’s peculiar perception of the landscape.

Miscellaneous

It is a small sample of works, some of them difficult to classify by the topics most treated by Ricolopez.

The look and the portrait

The portrait is another of the themes in Ricolópez’s painting, in which he is influenced –according to his own definition- by the great masters Titian and Rembrandt.

Ricolópez Museum

The City Council of Yecla located in the province of Murcia (Spain) pays permanent tribute to Juan Ricolópez, with the creation of the Museum that bears his name, in the Municipal House of Culture.
The Ricolopez museum was born from the artist’s own desire to donate to his city, some of the pictorial works that have marked his artistic career. Fifty works by Ricolopez, representative of the good work of the painter and belonging to different artistic stages, of medium and large format, constitute the aesthetic legacy that the artist has ceded to the city of Yecla.
